TXL Berlin-Tegel Airport

Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL) was historically served by city buses, regional buses, taxis, ride-hailing and car rental; many travelers used rapid bus links to central Berlin and taxi or private transfer for door-to-door service. If TXL is closed or replaced, check for the current main airport serving Berlin and its rail/express links, buses, taxis and rental-car options before traveling.

When TXL operated, the facilities were compact with short walking distances between check-in, security and gates; check-in desks and departure halls were located close to the curb with separate areas for Schengen and non-Schengen/international flights. For any transfers or connecting flights, verify airline transfer desks and follow airport signage or staff directions, as layout and procedures can change with airport closures or moves.

Arrive allowing ample time for check-in and security, especially during peak hours. Keep travel documents and passport available for international travel and be prepared for standard security screening. Because Berlin’s airport arrangements have changed in recent years, confirm which airport you will use, check transport connections in advance and allow extra time for transfers from city center or other airports.
