Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 airport guide

Paloma Mizuho Stadium (Mizuho Park, Mizuho-ku) · Nagoya

Date:

The 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 run from 19 September to 4 October 2026 at Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Mizuho Park, Mizuho-ku, Nagoya. The rebuilt stadium hosts athletics and the opening and closing ceremonies. With the opening day falling at the start of Japan’s five-day Silver Week, airport traffic can overlap with heavy domestic travel, so checking live boards for NKM and NGO helps before each airport trip.

Routes to Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya

Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO) is the main gateway, about 45 km by road from the stadium; Nagoya Airfield/Komaki (NKM) is domestic-only and about 22 km away. From NGO, rail is the default: the Meitetsu Airport Line reaches Meitetsu Nagoya Station in 28 minutes by μ-SKY Limited Express, with ordinary Limited Express services up to about 35 minutes. Continue by Nagoya Municipal Subway to Mizuho Undōjō Nishi or Higashi, then walk; Centrair Limousine buses, cars and taxis also exist.

Flying home after the 4 October closing ceremony

After the closing ceremony on Sunday 4 October, the main fly-home wave is expected on the days immediately after, when delegations and international fans move through NGO and connecting domestic travellers may use NKM. A secondary domestic-return surge falls on 23–24 September, at the end of Silver Week. Airports and station links can be crowded, and private-car access to venues is set to be restricted, so leave earlier than usual and check the live departures board before starting for the airport.

Asian Games airport travel tips

Use public transport where possible, as organisers plan restrictions on private cars around venues and shuttle buses between competition venues and nearby public-transport stations. Keep enough time for station transfers at Nagoya Station, check whether you are using international NGO or domestic-only NKM, and recheck arrivals and departures if travelling during Silver Week or the October Para Games wave.
