Date:
Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2026 runs from 24 September at 12:30 to 26 September at 15:00 at Baku City Circuit in Baku. The street circuit sits in the working city centre on the Caspian seafront, where race-week road closures affect normal traffic. With international visitors moving through the same gateway, checking the GYD live airport board helps you see arrivals and departures before choosing when to leave for the city or airport.
GYD live boards for Baku Grand Prix travel
From Heydar Aliyev Airport to Baku City Circuit
Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD), in the Bina settlement, is Baku’s only scheduled commercial passenger airport and the main gateway for the Grand Prix. The circuit is roughly 24 km by road from GYD; the official event guidance describes it as about 20 km and around 30 minutes by car or taxi, longer during closures. There is no rail or metro station at the airport. Use taxi, ride-hailing, or the H1 Airport Express via Koroglu and 28 May, then metro stations such as 28 May, Sahil or Icheri Sheher.
Flying home after the Saturday finish
Because the 2026 race finishes on Saturday 26 September rather than Sunday, the fly-home wave falls on Saturday evening 26 September and Sunday 27 September, one day earlier than a normal F1 weekend. Sunday 27 September is Remembrance Day, a national public holiday and day of mourning in Azerbaijan. GYD departures peak while the city is subdued, so arrive earlier than usual and check the live departures board before leaving.
Grand Prix week airport travel tips
Use public transport where possible: organiser and fan guidance recommend the metro over driving, and there is no spectator parking at the circuit. Keep luggage plans simple if you are going straight from the track to GYD. At arrivals, use official taxi ranks or recognised ride-hailing; the event travel page warns that unofficial taxi operators overcharge passengers. Recheck your flight status before each airport transfer.
