Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix 2026 airport guide
Madring (IFEMA Madrid circuit), Avda. del Partenón 5 · Madrid
Date:
The Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix 2026 runs 11–13 September 2026 at Madring, the IFEMA Madrid circuit at Avda. del Partenón 5 in Madrid. F2 and F3 also compete that weekend, lengthening on-site days and spreading arrivals across all three days. With about 110,000 spectators per day and most international air travellers funnelling through MAD, live airport boards help track same-day arrivals, delays and departures around the race weekend.

From Barajas to the IFEMA Madrid circuit
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas (MAD) is the main and effectively only gateway: Madrid has no second commercial airport, and Madring sits beside the airport at IFEMA in Barajas/Valdebebas. The venue is about 9 km away, roughly 8–13 km by road depending on terminal, or about 10–15 minutes by car outside peak. Metro Line 8 to Feria de Madrid is the headline link; Cercanías C-1, EMT buses, taxis and ride-hailing also serve the area.
Flying home after the Sunday race
After the Grand Prix finishes late afternoon on Sunday 13 September, the fly-home crunch is expected at MAD on Sunday evening 13 September and Monday morning 14 September. Roads around IFEMA, airport approaches and hotel areas can bunch up after sessions, especially in the hour after the Sunday race. Leave extra time for metro, train, bus, taxi or ride-hailing connections, and check the live MAD departures board before setting off for the airport.
Race-weekend airport travel tips
Plan around public transport rather than circuit parking, which is deliberately limited. If you land at T4, allow for the outlying terminal when choosing Metro Line 8 or Cercanías C-1. Friday 11 September is the main arrival build-up, with another wave on Saturday. Keep airport-board checks close to travel time, because airport-adjacent roads and connections can tighten quickly.
