Oktoberfest Munich, the 191st Wiesn, runs Saturday 19 September to Sunday 4 October 2026 on the Theresienwiese in Munich. The 42-hectare fairground is inside the city, immediately southwest of München Hauptbahnhof, with the ceremonial opening at 12:00 on the first Saturday. Around these travel dates, live airport boards help flyers watch arrivals and departures at MUC and FMM before choosing when to move between the airport, hotel and festival area.

From Munich Airport to the Theresienwiese
Munich Airport (MUC) is the main gateway, about 40–42 km northeast of Theresienwiese by road, with realistic door-to-door travel of 45–65 minutes. S-Bahn S1 and S8 link the airport with München Hauptbahnhof; Hackerbrücke is a useful stop for a signed 10-minute walk to the north entrance. The Lufthansa Express Bus runs to Hauptbahnhof, and taxis, ride-hailing and pre-booked transfers operate. Memmingen (FMM) is about 112 km away, a low-cost fallback with coach or rail connections.
Flying home after Kehraus weekend
The main fly-home wave is the closing weekend of 3–4 October 2026 and Monday 5 October, after the final Sunday closes the festival. Expect more passengers at MUC and some FMM queues, especially for morning and evening departures. Leave extra time for crowded stations, possible Hackerbrücke closures and airport processing, and check the live departures board before leaving Munich so you can react to delays, cancellations or late changes.
Wiesn airport and last-mile tips
Use public transport for the last mile because there is no parking at Theresienwiese. The closest U-Bahn, U4/U5 to Theresienwiese, is often the most crowded; Schwanthalerhöhe, Goetheplatz, Poccistraße, Hackerbrücke and Hauptbahnhof are walkable alternatives. On Saturdays and the 3 October public holiday, build in buffer time and use current routing advice before entering the busiest stations.
